HQ acquires two more novels from Goldie

HQ has acquired two more novels from Luan Goldie, who was longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Fiction in 2020 with her debut Nightingale Point (HQ).

Publishing director Manpreet Grewal acquired world English rights from Eve White at the Eve White Literary Agency to These Streets and one other novel. These Streets will be published in hardback, trade paperback, e-book and audio in spring 2022.

These Streets is set in Newham, east London, and follows the story of Jess, a single mother with two teenage children. When her landlord asks her to move on so he can sell the property without warning, Jess’ money worries take on a whole new meaning. As Jess struggles to regain her footing, cracks begin to appear in other areas of her life and suddenly she feels she’s failing at everything. 

Grewal said: "When Nightingale Point was longlisted for the Women’s Prize, it was a very special moment celebrating this acknowledgement of Luan’s talent. She is an exciting writer who vividly captures contemporary Britain in her novels, and I’m over the moon we’ll be working together on two further books. With These Streets, Luan has really raised the bar; it’s a powerful and heartbreaking look at a different kind of homelessness, and is full of her trademark warmth and searing observational narrative style."

Goldie added: "I'm so proud to be signing with HQ for another two books. They did an amazing job launching my debut and follow-up and I'm so excited to continue building my career with them. I can't wait to work with them on the next two titles."
