HQ has acquired a personal trainer's guide catering to the "under-served" mid-life market.
The first book of personal trainer Annie Deadman is tailored for "midlife women and men who have busy, demanding lives, but little time to care for themselves".
UK and Commonwealth rights to The 21 Day Blast Plan were acquired by Rachel Kenny, editorial director and Lisa Milton, executive publisher at HQ from Cathryn Summerhayes at Curtis Brown.
Based on her own group training and nutrition programme, The 21 Day Blast Plan includes a "comprehensive gut-friendly" eating plan with over 140 recipes, and a four-workouts-a-week fitness programme promising "lasting fat-loss and fitness results" in 21 days specifically for midlifers.
Kenny called the author's approach "refreshingly down-to-earth" with "outstanding" results. Deadman, based in South-West London, had an office-based life until "a late health epiphany"; she now has over 15 years’ experience in running fitness training and Pilates courses, personal training and managing her "Blast community" around the world.
"Half the office has already tried and been amazed by the changes to their bodies following her plan, and, what’s more, her book is a genuinely fun and inspiring read," said Kenny. "Everyone who meets Annie loves her instantly, and her plan is designed for an under-served area of the market who needs her wisdom most."
Deadman said: "Blast has all the elements of a fantastic fat-loss adventure, designed to educate, inspire and motivate those of us who are headed for ‘middle age’ to take charge and make changes… for 21 days and beyond. There is more than a generous dose of humour in this book but the facts and the results are deadly serious. I have seen the way Blast has such a positive effect on so many people, inside and out, physically and emotionally and I am chuffed to bits that HarperCollins have decided it’s a message worth spreading far and wide."
The 21 Day Blast Plan will be published as an illustrated trade paperback and e-book by HQ on 27th December.
