The People at Number 9 author Felicity Everett has signed a new two-book deal with HarperCollins.
Kate Mills, publishing director for the HP imprint, negotiated the deal with Sallyanne Sweeney at Mulcahy Associates.
The People at Number 9 is currently being developed as a returning TV series by Lionsgate UK, and is being published by HarperCollins in the US, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Holland.
The first of the newly acquired titles, The Welcome Party, will be published by HQ in hardback in late 2018, and explores the relationship between a new couple who move to a seemingly idyllic village for a fresh start but find they can’t quite shake off the shadow of their former lives.
Mills said: “We’ve had huge fun publishing The People at Number 9 at HQ, and it’s been brilliant seeing Felicity’s writing embraced in other countries and by the TV world too. But now we’ve got new neighbours to look forward to – next year’s book is a dark and delicious take on moving to the country and living the dream. Of course, being Felicity, nothing is quite as it seems and her new novel is a quirky, unsettling look at friends, community and the tricks our minds play on us.”
Sweeney added: “The Welcome Party has kept me up at night and is just as addictive, clever and tense as Felicity’s readers will expect. Kate Mills and the HQ team are doing a fantastic job in bringing The People at Number 9 to readers far and wide and I’m excited to see this partnership grow over Felicity’s next two novels.”
