HQ has snapped up a "hugely important and genre-defining" book by breathing expert and host of Radio 1’s "Decompression Session", Stuart Sandeman.

Editor Abigail Le Marquand-Brown acquired world all language rights to Breathe In, Breathe Out from Bev James Management. It will publish in the UK on 7th July 2022 and in the US and Canada with Hanover Square Press on 27th December 2022.

The book builds on Sandeman’s coaching and breath work sessions for his clients and Radio 1 listeners, which help to reduce stress to optimising physical and mental performance, overcoming negative mindsets and helping people connect with the world around them. The publisher said: "Combining scientific research with ancient wisdom, Stuart shows how our lungs hold the key to becoming stronger, healthier, and happier than we’ve ever imagined. All it takes is for us to Breathe In, Breathe Out."

Sandeman said: "I’m over the moon to be working with the amazing team at HQ to share the power of breathing with the world; on a deeply personal level breathwork has been life-changing, and I’m so excited to be able to share that message and truly help people."

Le Marquand-Brown added: "Growing scientific evidence supports just how integral breathing well is to our health, yet many still consider the practice of breathwork to be restricted to the spiritually enlightened. With his work with Breathpod, and sessions on Radio 1, Stuart has been breaking down preconceptions of who breathwork is for. We cannot wait to help an even wider audience begin to discover its life-changing benefits with this authoritative and accessible book."

James commented: "We’re thrilled to be partnering with HQ on what is a hugely important and genre-defining book; with his profile, expertise and accessibility, Stuart is perfectly placed to bring breathwork into the mainstream, and we’re delighted to be working with the wonderful team at HQ to make that happen."
