HarperCollins will publish The Skint Cook by Ian Bursnall.
Louise McKeever, editorial director, acquired world all-language rights from Bev James at Bev James Management. The Skint Cook will be published on 18th January 2024 in hardback and e-book.
Known as The Skint Roofer, Bursnall was a finalist on Channel 4’s "The Great Cookbook Challenge" last year which saw 18 aspiring cookery writers compete to win a publishing contract with Penguin Michael Joseph.
The publisher said: “This is cooking on a budget at its best: maximum flavour, minimum spend. Bursting with super simple, budget-friendly recipes that pack a big punch whether cooking for one or trying to feed a crowd, Ian shows how to use up leftovers, knock-out everyday showstoppers and still have cash to spare. This is affordable and stress-free food to cook and enjoy every night of the week.”
Bursnall said: “I am buzzing to have been given this once in a lifetime opportunity to publish my very first cookbook. I will forever thank all involved in making this happen.
"This book is packed with fun, creative recipes... proper classics with twists and turns that don’t cost the earth and are very user friendly. Do the simple things right and you’re half way there.”
McKeever said: “The whole team watched Ian on "Jamie Oliver’s Great Cookbook Challenge" and loved his ability to create delicious, affordable food with surprising and ingenious flavour combinations. Ian loves creating food that everyone will enjoy, no matter their budget, and this book is packed full of sensational recipes that we can all easily cook time and time again.”
James commented: “Ian Bursnall’s ingenious budget-friendly recipes are a must have for anyone who loves delicious, affordable food that doesn’t break the bank.”
