Hutchinson Heinemann has acquired Sir Michael Palin’s account of his recent trip to Venezuela.
Nigel Wilcockson, associate publisher at Cornerstone, acquired world rights to Michael Palin in Venezuela from Steve Abbott at Mayday Management. The book will be published in hardback, e-book and audiobook on 25th September 2025, coinciding with a documentary series.
"In February 2025, Michael Palin travelled the length and breadth of Venezuela to experience first hand what life is like in a country whose borders few outsiders venture to cross," the synopsis says. "Illustrated throughout with colour photographs taken on the trip, and permeated with his warmth and humour, this is a kaleidoscopic account of a fascinating and complex country."
Palin said: "Venezuela was a magnificent surprise. A country of epic landscapes and warm, welcoming people, it has everything except the visitors it deserves. My journey discovers the delights behind the politics."
Wilcockson added: "Michael’s boundless sense of curiosity, warm sympathy and sharp eye make him the perfect travel companion to a country about which we hear so much but know so little."
