Tamara Mcfarlane, the owner of award-winning indie bookshop Tales on Moon Lane, has signed a three-book deal with kids’ publisher Troika.
Publisher Martin West bought world rights to The Comic Shop Mysteries from SP Agency’s Abi Sparrow.
Featuring superhero Komodo Jones, the series is aimed at readers aged eight to 12 and will be published in a large paperback format with “vibrant graphic illustrations” by Eugene Ramirez Mapondera.
Macfarlane, who is also the author of children’s series The Amazing Esme (Hodder Children’s Books), said: “Being with Troika has enabled me to share the work of the brilliant illustrator Eugene Ramirez Mapondera with an even wider audience. We share a determination to move children’s books to better reflect the world we live in.”
The first title will be published in April 2018, with the second due in March 2019 and the third in autumn 2019.
