Jacaranda has acquired the rights to Ghost Season, the début novel from Berlin-based author Fatin Abbas.
Daquan Cadogan led the editorial team at Jacaranda in negotiating the rights deal with Jessica Bullock at The Wylie Agency. Ghost Season, which looks at the civil war in Sudan from the perspective of five opposing characters, was published earlier this year in the US and will hit UK shelves on 6th July 2023.
Abbas said: “I’m absolutely delighted to see Ghost Season arrive in the UK, and in the hands of a fabulous publishing house like Jacaranda."
Cadogan shared: “When I read Ghost Season, I was immediately taken in by the beautiful writing. Abbas hauntingly evokes a powerful sense of place in this brilliant character study of disparate people going through a crisis. Though set on the border of Sudan and South Sudan, it is timely and relevant the world over.”
