Penguin Michael Joseph (PMJ) is publishing a new book from Jamie Oliver this autumn: Simply Jamie, marking 25 years since he shot to fame with The Naked Chef.
It will be published as part of an existing deal for world rights made by Louise Moore, managing director of PMJ and Oliver’s long-time publisher, with the Jamie Oliver Group. It will be an international publication on 26th September 2024, with global deals confirmed in the US and Canada and further deals being finalised in territories such as the Germany and the Netherlands.
PMJ said Simply Jamie “celebrates the joy of cooking while making it easy for people to fit cooking into their busy lives." It comes 25 years after PMJ published his first book, The Naked Chef.
The new book contains five chapters to reflect five “modern-day gears of cooking and ensures there is something for every occasion and every day of the week” featuring Midweek Meals, Weekend Wins, Trusty Traybakes, Cupboard Love and Perfect Puds. “With over 130 recipes, Simply Jamie is full of delicious, achievable recipes that will slot right into the rhythms of your week – from 20-minute-to-table dishes and no-time-to-shop cupboard rescues to weekend wins that create smart leftover ideas, making mealtimes a doddle in the days that follow,” PMJ said.
Oliver said he “wanted to create a book that is about how we cook now”. He added: “Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out in the kitchen, I want to arm you with the recipes – and the confidence – to fit more cooking into your life, with total ease.
“Right now, it seems that time is our most valuable currency. Whatever your skill level, if you’re restricted on time then you need to be smart with how you approach mealtimes. Eating out, getting a takeaway or reheating something you’ve bought can all be convenient, but I hope that the recipes in this cookbook will inspire you to find ways to get into the kitchen, and enjoy it.”
