Jamie Smart’s Bunny vs. Monkey series will be available in audio for the first time following a deal with Bolinda Audio.
Audiobook catalogue manager Nicki Powell acquired world (excluding North America) audio rights to seven books from Emily Talbot on behalf of Jodie Hodges at United Agents. The first book in the series will be published in October 2024.
The Bunny vs Monkey series is a collation of Smart’s long-running weekly comic strip of the same name in the Phoenix comic, first published in 2014. The books, published by David Fickling Books in partnership with the Phoenix, have sold over one million copies in print in the UK.
Powell said: “At Bolinda Audio we are beyond excited to be bringing the incredible Bunny vs Monkey series to life in audio for the first time. Transforming these beloved comics into an immersive audio experience is an exciting challenge, and we can’t wait to captivate both new and existing fans with the same energy and humour that has made Jamie Smart’s Bunny vs Monkey a favourite among readers.”
Smart said: “When I started drawing Bunny vs Monkey all those years ago, I never dreamed I’d one day be able to hear their epic adventures, or their sweet voices, or all the explosions and yelling which erupts out of every episode. But now I’m so excited that Bolinda have taken on the mantle of bringing Bunny vs Monkey into audiobooks, and that both fans and newcomers will be able to enjoy the stories in a whole new way. And personally, I’m looking forward to listening to Monkey laugh maniacally in my ear while I work, which is going to make for some very interesting books in the future.”
