Transworld will publish a second book by Jason Fox, author and star of the Channel 4 series "SAS Who Dares Wins", about resilience under pressure.
Acquired by editorial director Henry Vines from Jon Elek at United Agents on behalf of Jason Fox and M&C Saatchi Merlin, Life Under Fire: How to Build Resilience and Thrive Under Pressure will be published by Transworld imprint Bantam Press in hardback on 14th May 2020.
The book follows Fox's debut about the psychological impact of modern combat, Battle Scars, which was published by Transworld last November following a seven-way auction.
"Jason has overcome more than his fair share of emotional and mental conflicts and in Life Under Fire he will share the tools he’s developed at the cutting edge of an elite military career and show how to build the resilience and inner strength to overcome life’s challenges," Transworld said.
Vines said: "Following his searing account of PTSD in Battle Scars, I am delighted that Jason has now agreed to share the psychological techniques he has developed to cope with the stresses of combat and the pressures and setbacks that we all face in our lives. If Battle Scars was about mental fragility, Life Under Fire explores mental strength, taking readers deeper into Foxy’s career and on his expeditions in some of the world’s toughest environments, and showing how anyone can build resilience and learn to thrive far beyond their comfort zone.’
Fox, who is an ex-special forces soldier and frontman star of Channel 4 series "SAS Who Dares Wins", said: "During my military career, I dealt regularly with fear, emotional breakdown, pain in hostile environments and the horrors of war. I summoned bravery during intense gun battles and, perhaps more courageously, raised my hand for help during my darkest moment – though it took a while."
He added: "The psychological techniques I developed during my time as an elite operator still serve me today, in and out of danger, and I am looking forward to being able to share them through the stories in this new book."
