Jeff Kinney's next Wimpy Kid set for October 2024

Jeff Kinney’s next Wimpy Kid instalment, Hot Mess, will be published by Puffin in October 2024.

Hot Mess (Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Book 19) will be published by the Penguin Random House UK children’s imprint on 22nd of October 2024 in hardcover, e-book and audio across 27 countries.

Kinney revealed the details on the US variety talk show "The Kelly Clarkson Show" after his initial appearance on the 2nd November 2023, where he surprised a nine-year-old Diary of a Wimpy Kid fan on air and invited him for a special tour of the Wimpy Kid studio, housed above the author’s bookshop, An Unlikely Story, in Plainville, Massachusetts. During the live segment, Kinney shared behind-the-scenes footage from the studio visit and discussed the creation of the cover for Hot Mess.

In Hot Mess, the 19th book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, Greg Heffley is caught in the middle as the two halves of his extended family come together in "a sidesplittingly relatable summer story", Puffin said.
