Transworld has bagged Between the Covers, a collection of journalism from Jilly Cooper.
Senior commissioning editor Sally Williamson acquired world English language rights from Felicity Blunt at Curtis Brown, with the book to be released on 29th October 2020.
Cooper said: “My Sunday Times column amazingly lasted for 13 years through the seventies and early eighties, often chronicling my chaos as a wife and mother working from home, and our lunatic but hugely enjoyable social life. Readers tended to love or absolutely detest what I wrote.
“I am therefore delighted that my dear publishers Transworld are, in Between the Covers, re-issuing a collection of some of my favourite columns. Re-reading them I realise what a different world the seventies were and keep wondering, 'Did I really dare to write that?' but I so hope that both readers old and young enjoy them.’
Williamson said: “As a decades-long fan of Jilly Cooper, I couldn’t be more delighted to be publishing this collection of her brilliant journalism from when she was starting out as a writer. A fantastic introduction to anyone unfamiliar with Jilly’s non-fiction works of genius, these superb columns showcase her clever wit and undeniable talent, and will be a glorious treat for Christmas.”
