Jo Fletcher Books has acquired six originally self-published fantasy-romance novels by Kimberly Lemming.
Publishing director Anne Perry bought world rights directly from the author. North American rights were scooped up by Brit Hvide at Orbit US, and German rights by Heyne Verlag.
The first two novels in the Mead Mishaps series, That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon and its sequel, That Time I Got Drunk and Yeeted a Love Potion at a Werewolf, are already available as e-book editions, and the third, That Time I Drugged a Dragon, will follow for its worldwide debut on 13th April 2023.
All three novels, which currently feature covers designed and illustrated by the author, will be published in paperback with new cover art later in 2023. Three more novels – two more in the Mead Mishaps series and one standalone – will be published in 2024.
Perry said: “I had the pleasure of discovering Kim’s brilliant novels completely organically, a month before I started working at Quercus. They are everything I love in fantasy: ferociously imaginative, gorgeously constructed and, best of all, laugh-out-loud funny. Not to mention, very spicy. I couldn’t be more delighted that Kim has decided to publish traditionally with Jo Fletcher Books. I’m thrilled to bring her novels to an even broader audience, and I can’t wait to see what she writes next.”
Lemming said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with Anne and Jo Fletcher Books, and the team at Quercus. Their passion for publishing, combined with their expertise in marketing and distribution, will give my book the best possible chance to reach a wider audience. As an author, it’s always been my dream to see my work in bookstores and libraries, and I’m excited to be taking this next step in my writing career.”
