Jo Nesbo returns this autumn with an “explosive” new thriller, Blood Ties.
Liz Foley, publishing director at Harvill Secker, acquired UK and Commonwealth rights, excluding Canada, from Niclas Salomonsson at the Salomonsson Agency. Blood Ties, described as an “explosive standalone thriller about family, loyalty, and the lengths people will go to cling on to power”, will publish on 10th October 2024.
The book reunites readers with brothers Carl and Roy Opgard from The Kingdom, which published in September 2020. "In many ways, the brothers Carl and Roy Opgard have succeeded in life. Or at least they’ve had as much success as is possible in a small town like Os where they’ve had to kill their way to the top” the publisher teased.
“Carl manages the area’s swanky spa hotel, while Roy has made ambitious plans for an amusement park. The only way is up for the two brothers. Unless the local sheriff can bring them down. The sheriff believes he has new evidence that will prove the brothers’ involvement in several past murders, but Carl and Roy Opgard are used to covering their tracks, and they’re not afraid to get their hands dirty. The high body count in Os is about to get higher.”
Foley said: “Hot on the heels of Jo’s most recent Sunday Times number one, we’re delighted to have a stunning new standalone thriller to come from him this autumn. Readers are in for a roller-coaster ride!”
Nesbo has sold 4.3 million books for more than £26m via Nielsen BookScan TCM, with the paperback edition of The Snowman his individual bestseller on 638,000 copies. The Harry Hole series accounts for the majority of Nesbo’s sales, selling more than 3 million copies for over £18m.
