John Murray is set to publish a "guide to the end times" from comic Frankie Boyle and his writing partner Charlie Skelton. Yassine Belkacemi, editorial director at John Murray Press has acquired world rights to A Short History of the Apocalypse from Richard Cook at The Lisa Richards Agency who represents Frankie Boyle, and Matthew Hamilton at The Hamilton Agency who represents Charlie Skelton.
A Short History of the Apocalypse is a "comprehensive guide to the challenges presented by Armageddon". The book follows Boyle and Skelton as they debrief time traveller and bon vivant from the late 21st Century, Alonso Lampe.
The synopsis continues: "How do you go about joining a militia? What will life be like in a billionaire’s bunker? How will people entertain themselves in re-education camps? All these questions will be answered in several different, often contradictory, ways."
The book contains illustrations by comic artist Frank Quitely.
Boyle is one of the UK’s best-known comedians and writers and is the author of three non-fiction books including My Shit Life So Far, and Work! Consume! Die!. His debut crime fiction novel Meantime (Baskerville, John Murray Press) was a Sunday Times Bestseller.
Skelton is a comedy writer and journalist, who was script editor of Frankie Boyle’s "New World Order". Mostly he writes jokes for TV shows, but sometimes writes for the Guardian, covering the Bilderberg Conference since 2009.
