Newly crowned King of the Jungle Harry Redknapp is writing a book for Ebury, The World According to Harry, pitched as the first ever book about his life beyond football.
In The World According to Harry, the recent "I'm a Celebrity" winner will cover "everything from love, life, jungle-survival and jam roly-poly pudding" with "trademark humour" and "much loved no-nonsense charm", whilst giving readers "an eclectic and entertaining account of his funniest experiences and favourite anecdotes". Among these include bumping into Prince Harry at his physiotherapist's office and thinking he was someone he once signed for Portsmouth, to not recognising Princess Beatrice at a dinner function until she said what her horse her ‘nan’ (the Queen) owned.
The new book will publish with Ebury Press on 30th May this year, priced £20.
It follows It Shouldn’t Happen to a Manager, a book Redknapp also penned for Ebury, sharing his successes and failures in football, published in November 2016. It sold 19,509 in hardback and 12,626 in paperback through Nielsen BookScan, while in total the football manager has sold 449,149 copies of his books for £4.13m with 2013’s Always Managing (also Ebury) shifting nearly 220k in hardback.
The deal for world all language rights in The World According to Harry was made between Phil Smith at First Artist, Peter Storrie of R B & F Enterprises and Ebury publisher Andrew Goodfellow.
Goodfellow said: "We’ve loved every minute of working with Harry over the last decade and can’t wait to bring this book to his new found audience. Britain can’t get enough of Harry at the moment and this promises to be the most intimate and hilarious encounter with him to date. Bring on the jam roly-poly."
Redknapp said: "The jungle was an amazing experience for me and I’m looking forward to working with Ebury once again and getting a few good stories down on paper."
