TV presenter Konnie Huq has signed a multiple book deal with Piccadilly Press, a division of Bonnier Zaffre.
Huq will write a funny three-book series, entitled “Cookie”, which is based in an contemporary London Bangledishi setting and features “madcap science projects”. She is also doing a collection of modern-day fairy tales.
Piccadilly will publish the series and the fairy tales from autumn 2019.
Bonnier bought world rights on a pre-empt from Cathryn Summerhayes at Curtis Brown, amid “very strong interest from multiple publishers”.
Jane Harris, executive director of Children’s at Bonnier Zaffre, said: “We are all thrilled to be publishing Konnie. Her storytelling simply sparkles off the page with humour and wry observation. She will be a real inspiration for a new generation of readers.”
Bonnier Zaffre is part of Bonnier Publishing, whose c.e.o. Richard Johnson stepped down last month.
