Octopus imprint Kyle Books has bagged a new cookbook of stovetop recipes from former "Great British Bake Off" champion John Whaite.
Sophie Allen, commissioning editor, acquired world rights in all languages from Jonny McWiliams at Crown Talent Management. A Flash in the Pan: Simple Speedy Stovetop Recipes will be published on 8th August.
The book is filled with dishes that can be prepared and cooked on the stove, without an oven, in under 45 minutes. The publisher explained: “Ingredients are easily accessible and kitchen appliances and implements are few – this is cooking for people that are time poor but want to create nourishing dishes. And in true John Whaite style, A Flash in the Pan is brimming with interesting and innovative combinations – from Marmalade Brulée French Toast and Bloody Mary Prawn Tacos to Saag Halloumi and Passionfuit Tiramisu.”
Whaite won the third series of the hit baking show and now runs his own cookery school, John Whaite’s Kitchen. His fourth book Comfort (Kyle) was chosen as a Book of the Year by BBC Radio 4’s "Food Programme". John was also a resident chef on ITV’s “Lorraine” for two years and has written regularly for the Daily Telegraph and Delicious Magazine.
He said: “I’m thrilled to be publishing another book with such a great publishing house. This book has been a labour of love, and the simple, speedy recipes will bring almost instant gratification to those who use it.”
Allen said: “We’re delighted to be publishing another inspirational book with John. His accessible and delicious recipes really resonate with home cooks everywhere.”
