Kyle Books has signed the "timely" new cookbook from Ching-He Huang, Wok for Less: Budget-Friendly Asian Meals in 30 minutes or Less.
Publishing director Judith Hannam acquired world rights, excluding Asia, from Sentient Films and Kate Heather at RH Talent. It will be published in January 2024.
Filled with "quick, simple, cost-conscious" Chinese recipes to cook at home, Wok for Less contains both meat-based meals as well as "inventive veg-packed" dishes alongside ways to make the most of cupboard ingredients.
Ching-He Huang is an Emmy-nominated television chef whose TV credits include "Chinese Food Made Easy", "Chinese Food in Minutes" and "Ching’s Amazing Asia". She is also the author of 11 cookbooks. She said: "The foundation of Chinese and Asian cuisine is centred around the wok. It is frugal cooking at it’s best using scarce resources and humble ingredients. Inspired by this principle, my recipes are aimed at making meals stretch further during these economically challenging times so that we may eat well and waste less. Thanks to Judith and team at Kyle Books who support my journey and purpose."
Hannam added: "A wok is as heat efficient as an air fryer, cheaper to buy, much less bulky and produces meals in minutes, so is the perfect cooking method for anyone who is cash‐strapped or time‐starved – or both! In Wok for Less, bestselling author Ching‐He Huang offers effortlessly easy, quick‐fire meals that are not only delicious but won’t break the bank."
