Kyle Books has secured Knead Peace: Recipe’s from the World’s Best Bakers in Support of Ukraine by chef and baker Andrew Green.
Judith Hannam, publishing director, acquired world rights directly from the author. The cookbook will be published on 27th October with £2.50 of every sale donated to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal of Disasters Emergency Committee which provides food, water, shelter and healthcare to families fleeing the conflict.
The book was inspired by Anna Makievska and The Bakehouse Kyiv, where baking has continued throughout the conflict. "Baking connects good people and lets them understand each other, no matter what language they speak," said Makievska.
Recipes in Knead Peace include sweet and savoury bakes—"indulgent" cakes, cookies, pies and tarts—which have been donated from bakers around the world including Richard Bertinet, Yotam Ottolenghi, Sally Clarke, Sarit Packer and Itamar Srulovich.
Hannam said: "When Andrew approached Kyle Books about a global baking initiative in support of Ukraine, I knew it was something very special. The recipes in Knead Peace are modern-day baking must-haves from some of the world’s best bakers and I’m delighted Kyle is able to be part of this timely, inspiring and important book."
Green said: "After speaking to Anna and her team at the Bakehouse and hearing of how they continued to provide the daily bread for soldiers and residents left behind in the terror, turmoil and destruction of the war, the Knead Peace cookbook was born in which l knew that we had to capture the power and magic of the baking community. I set out to make a truly special book that shows baking is a community that spreads around the world ,which l believe is captured in this book."
