Kyle Books (an imprint of Octopus Books) has scooped The Repair Shop: Crafts in the Barn. This is the second specially photographed book from the BBC show, in which the experts explain the importance of heirloom restoration crafts and tell more stories of their repairs.
Publisher Joanna Copestick acquired world rights from Ricochet via Charlotte Robertson at Robertson Murray, and will publish the book in hardback on 12th October 2023.
In the past year, the show has featured royal visits, celebrity repairs and a Comic Relief special. The synopsis said: "This new book focuses on the crafts skills of the experts, from woodwork and ceramics to leather restoration and metalwork.
"In his foreword, Jay Blades explains the unique magic of the Repair Shop barn, then each of the experts demystify their craft, revealing some insider tips along the way. Learn about heirloom crafts and the importance of restoration in an increasingly fast-paced, throwaway culture."
Joanna Ball, managing director at Ricochet, said: "It’s been a pleasure working with the team at Kyle to translate the magic of the barn into a book. ’The Repair Shop’ experts are passionate about their crafts and are determined to share and inspire others with their knowledge and skill."
Copestick added: "I’m delighted that the experts of ’The Repair Shop’ are explaining how they got started in their particular crafts, sharing with us their favourite tools and techniques and highlighting both endangered crafts and the versatility of their skills in carrying out intriguing repairs on a wide variety of precious objects."
