Ladybird has scooped a guide to taking the step up to big school by Daisy Upton.
Amy Anderson, editorial director, acquired world rights to Starting School from Paul Moreton at Bell Lomax Moreton. It will publish 22nd June.
Upton has published a trilogy of books about children’s games and activities but this is her first book aimed specifically at children.
Ladybird described Starting School as “a gentle, funny guide to taking the big step to big school".
"Daisy helps introduce key ideas that reflect modern school life for both children and parents—from getting a uniform, phonics, and the different areas of the classrooms to playtime, making new friends, numbers and tidying up,” it said.
Upton explained: “I used to be a teaching assistant and I’ve got two children in primary school so I really know what it’s like for kids walking in to school for the first time. I wanted to create a book that prepares and excites them for the new adventures ahead.”
Anderson added: “We love everything Daisy creates for parents and their children and we know that Starting School will support little ones for years to come as they get ready for their first day at school.”
