Lagom, the health and wellbeing imprint of Zaffre Publishing Group at Bonnier Books UK, has acquired Why Don’t I Have Anything to Wear? by Andrea Cheong.
Madiya Altaf, senior editor, secured world rights from Oscar Janson-Smith at Gleam Futures. Why Don’t I Have Anything to Wear? will be published in hardback, audio and e-book on 3rd August 2023.
The publisher says it “teaches us how to shop smarter, save money, help the planet and create a wardrobe that works for us” and “will provide easy solutions and a fresh mindset on how to shop, offering the tools and knowledge to confidently assess whether a garment you want to buy is value for money or a rip off.”
It continues: “Filled with fun interactive quizzes, checklists and decision trees, Why Don’t I Have Anything to Wear? will help the reader identify how retailers play mind games, the second-hand and rental market, understanding the difference between sustainable buys vs sustainable brands, and so much more.”
According to the publisher, Cheong was one of the first creators on TikTok to “discuss the significance of materials and production quality which impact our clothing “ and has “quickly become a trusted voice and expert in the area.”
Cheong said: "The one problem that plagues all of us, no matter our age, income or even what we do for a living is, ’Why don’t I have anything to wear?’ Based on my five-step guide, this book finally presents the answer to this age-old question. It stems from the fact that when it comes to fashion, most people don’t know how to shop.
“I believe that following my method can break our impulsive shopping habits and improve our wellbeing. Best of all, it’s learning to shop for the modern day, which means that whether or not you care about sustainability, you’ll find it easier to make choices that better the environment. It’s time to be an empowered shopper, and I’m so excited to share my book with readers.”
Altaf commented: “As soon as I came across Andrea’s TikTok page, I knew I needed a book from her. Her expert knowledge and unique mindset provides us with the ultimate guide that will revolutionise the way we shop and show us how to create a sustainable and effective wardrobe.”
