Lake Union, an imprint of Amazon Publishing, has struck a two-book deal with Katherine Slee.
Fiction editor Sammia Hamer acquired world English rights from Hayley Steed at Madeleine Milburn Ltd. The first title, The Love We Left Behind, will be released simultaneously in the UK, US and Australia in July 2021. A second book, The Memory Box, will be released in July 2022.
The Love We Left Behind follows Erika Lindberg. Erika has a fiancé, financial independence and a close-knit group of friends, but she still feels that something is missing in her life. The story revisits Erika's time at Oxford University and explores how her decisions in the past have had a lasting impact.
Hamer said: "We are thrilled to be welcoming Katherine onto the Lake Union list. I devoured this intoxicating novel in one sitting and was blown away by Katherine’s writing and how with the dual perspective of Erika and Niamh, Katherine navigates readers through the complexities of their life decisions and the resounding impact that love has upon their friendship. This is a truly relatable story of heartbreak that really resonated with me and I cannot wait to get it out into readers’ hands!"
Slee commented: "I am honoured and thrilled to become part of the Amazon Publishing family. This is definitely one of those 'pinch me' moments, far exceeding anything I could have hoped for. Sammia and her team have been so incredibly welcoming and supportive of The Love We Left Behind and I can't wait to see what happens next."
