Lake Union, the contemporary and historical fiction imprint of Amazon Publishing, has bought two books by journalist Jane Crittenden.
Victoria Oundjian, editor, acquired world English rights to Worlds Apart and an as-yet-untitled second novel from Rufus Purdy at Brighton’s The Two Piers Literary Agency. Worlds Apart will be published in spring/summer 2023.
Oundjian, who said she was excited about the novel, described it as “very much a grown-up love story and one that I think will resonate with readers globally. It will be a great fit for our Lake Union Publishing list and I am thrilled at the prospect of working with Jane.”
The synopsis says: “When a British architect visits New Zealand for work, he is delighted to find his ex-girlfriend, Amy, working in a beachside café in Auckland. But Amy is less enamoured. After all, this is the man who failed to acknowledge her pregnancy when they were teenagers and he still avoids all mention of the daughter she went to the other side of the world to have alone. Can she let him back into her life and trust him when he so obviously has secrets of his own?”
Crittenden said: “As a debut author, I’m looking forward to launching my first novel with the support and guidance of a worldwide publisher.”
