Laurence King to publish the "absolute must-have collectible gift", The World of Terry Pratchett: A 1,000-Piece Discworld Jigsaw Puzzle, with original artwork by Paul Kidby.
Deputy publisher Philip Contos acquired world rights from Jon Wood at the RCW Literary Agency. The jigsaw will be released on 3rd October 2024 in the UK and 8th October in North America.
"We are so excited to build on the incredible Discworld publishing from fellow imprint Gollancz and to expand on Sir Terry’s publishing into the non-book space, which LKP are uniquely positioned to do as part of Orion", said Contos.
Kidby was Pratchett’s artist of choice. The new jigsaw puzzle makes available Kidby’s "Discworld Massive Massif", a collector’s print of the iconic characters from Pratchett’s series, in jigsaw puzzle format for the first time. It features more than 140 characters from Pratchett’s Discworld series and is accompanied by a fold-out poster featuring a reproduction of the artwork on the front and "amusing" biographies of 40 favourite characters written by the Terry Pratchett Estate. Pratchett’s Discworld series is published by Gollancz.
Brendan Durkin, editor at Gollancz, said: "There’s no world like Discworld, and there’s no team quite like that at Laurence King who are able to bring literary worlds to life in non-book form. Gollancz is thrilled to be a member of this unique publishing partnership. Sir Terry’s legacy is in safe hands and we can’t wait to see where this collaboration leads."
Kidby added: "This painting is the culmination of the 30 years I have spent designing the myriad of Discworld characters in all their diverse variations. From Angua the werewolf to Windle Poons the zombie and all the riotous animals, witches and wizards in between. It’s my own tribute to Terry and his books, to see it in jigsaw format is just brilliant. I hope you will have as much fun puzzling over it as I did painting it."
