Laurence King has acquired 40 "gorgeously illustrated" Heartstopper fan cards featuring "a mix of Alice Oseman’s unforgettable characters with behind-the-scenes info, plus conversation cards exploring essential themes raised by the series".
The Heartstopper Fan Cards will be released in September, ahead of the release of “Heartstopper” series three landing on Netflix in October. Publishing director Philip Contos bought world rights to the cards from Claire Wilson at the RCW Literary Agency.
The cards are described as “the essential companion cards to the Netflix series and graphic novels” which give "supportive guidance, affirming quotes and helpful ways for young people to better understand themselves". The cards include brand-new text written by Lauren James, a friend and collaborator of Oseman’s and story consultant on the Netflix series. Publication will be supported by an extensive global press and marketing campaign.
Contos said: "We are so excited to build on the incredible Heartstopper publishing from Hachette Children’s to create this essential gift deck for fans. The Heartstopper universe created by Alice is wonderfully affirming and inclusive and we are excited to share these cards with the fans you will benefit so much from Alice’s insight and support."
Oseman said: "I’m very excited about the release of The Heartstopper Official Fan Cards! It was so much fun to work with Lauren James and LKP to create an adorable and collectable set of cards which give the Heartstopper fandom a new and unique extension of the Heartstopper universe."
The Heartstopper Official Fan Cards will be published by Laurence King on 5th September 2024 in the UK and export, 10th September in North America, and in translation in the following territories: France, Portugal, Germany, Spain, The Netherlands, Italy, Mexico and Argentina.
