Legend Press has landed Femicide, the “compulsive” novel from Pascal Engman, in a three-book-series deal.
Cari Rosen, commissioning editor, acquired world English rights, excluding audio, from Steve White at the Nordin Agency in Sweden. The novel will be published in the UK on 6th October.
Femicide, originally titled Råttkungen, has already sold more than 100,000 copies in Sweden where it was published by Bookmark Förlag. The rights to the series have been sold in 19 languages.
The novel, along with the later titles, follows Detective Inspector Vanessa Frank, a recent addition to the Stockholm murder squad. When Emelie is found murdered, with 20 stab wounds to the stomach, Frank’s investigation uncovers a “rising digital network of men who want to punish women, the so-called incels”.
“The pace, drama and drive of Pascal’s writing make his books truly compulsive reading and we are delighted to be able to bring them to an English-speaking audience,” Rosen said. “They are the perfect addition to our crime/thriller list.”
Engman added: “It’s a boyhood dream and an honour to have your book published in English. Everything sounds beautiful and I wish my grandma would have lived to experience it. She lived in London in the ’60s and would have been proud.”
