Libby Page has moved to Viking as part of a two-book deal, as the publisher announces “a new chapter” in the Sunday Times bestselling author’s career.
Editorial director Vikki Moynes acquired world all-language rights from Robert Caskie at the Robert Caskie Agency for what Viking described as two “heartrending yet ultimately hopeful” love stories: This Book Made Me Think of You and a further untitled novel.
This Book Made Me Think of You is tipped by Viking as “an unconventional love story that celebrates the healing power of reading, pitched as PS I Love You [HarperCollins] meets Eat, Pray, Love [Bloomsbury] for book lovers”.
The synopsis states: “When Matilda receives a call on her birthday telling her there’s a gift from her fiancé waiting for her at the local bookshop, it comes as quite a shock. Joe died five months ago, and she has ached for him every day since.
“And so Matilda embarks on her year of books – one for each month carefully chosen by Joe – on a series of literary-inspired adventures which will take her from bustling sidewalks in New York and the tree-lined avenues of Paris to the tranquil Tuscan countryside and the white sands of Bali. With the help of bookshop owner, Alfie, Matilda starts to discover who she is now, after Joe. Can her year of books show her how to live, dream, and love, again?”
Page was previously published by Orion. Her debut novel The Lido was an instant Sunday Times top 10 bestseller, also winning the W H Smith "Thumping Good Read" Award, and her work has been published in over 20 territories around the world. This Book Made Me Think of You will be her sixth novel. She has sold just over 104,000 copies for almost £751,000, according to Nielsen BookScan.
Moynes says: “This Book Made Me Think of You will make anyone who has known grief feel imbued with hope. Readers will cry, feel deeply and be filled with a glowing sense of possibility that, just maybe, everything will be alright in the end.”
Page said: “I’m delighted to be joining Viking’s fantastic list of authors in the next step of my writing journey. This Book is a very special one for me, drawing on my lifelong love of reading and my personal experiences of the healing power of books.”
Caskie, commented: “I’m delighted Libby’s new publishing home is with Vikki and the team at Viking. I know they will create brilliant books together – their ambition to find a whole new audience for her has been energising.”
