Lightning Books bags Lipman's 14th novel

Lightning Books has bagged Ms Demeanor, the latest romantic comedy novel from Elinor Lipman. 

Publisher Dan Hiscocks acquired UK rights from Florence Dodd at the WME Agency. The novel will be published in September 2023. 

Previously published in the US by HarperCollins in 2022, Ms Demeanor is Lipman’s 14th novel and the fourth to be published with Lightning Books in the UK. It follows a Manhattan lawyer sentenced to house arrest after being reported to the police because of "a night of passion on the rooftop of her apartment block". The synopsis continues: "Facing her sudden isolation, she discovers that another resident of her building has also fallen foul of the law and, like her, is confined by an ankle tag. An unlikely romance blossoms."
