Little, Brown has acquired a “no-nonsense guide for women” by Barack Obama’s former right-hand woman Alyssa Mastromonaco.
Editor David Bamford acquired UK and Commonwealth rights from Nicole Bond at Twelve Books. So Here’s the Thing . . . Notes on Growing Up, Getting Older and Not Giving a Shit will be published by Little, Brown in ebook on 5th March and paperback on 22nd March.
The book is described as “a bold, no-nonsense guide for women navigating the world of work and life in the twenty-first century, full of fun anecdotes and titbits from her time at the White House and beyond”. Written with Lauren Oyler, it features Mastromonaco’s own experiences alongside interviews with women like Monica Lewinsky, ex-US national security adviser Susan Rice and TV host Chelsea Handler.
Mastromonaco served as assistant to the president and director of scheduling at the White House from 2009 to 2011 and as assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff for operations from 2011 to 2014. She is also the author of Who Thought This Was a Good Idea? with Lauren Oyler (Little, Brown).
