HarperCollins has acquired world English rights for The Cancer Roadmap by Dr Liz O’Riordan.
Publisher Katya Shipster struck the deal with Clare Hulton at Clare Hulton Literary Agency. The Cancer Roadmap will be published in trade paperback, audiobook and e-book on 30th January 2025.
HarperCollins said: “In The Cancer Roadmap, breast cancer surgeon and three-time cancer patient Dr Liz O’Riordan confronts the big cancer truths and myths, offering clear, evidence-based answers.
“She breaks down the latest research to give the facts you need to make informed treatment decisions that are right for you or your loved one... [and] share practical steps to reduce the risk of future recurrence, provide definitive answers to common questions and guide you through your cancer journey with confidence and clarity.”
O’Riordan said: “I was a little bit nervous when Katya Shipster approached me to write The Cancer Roadmap. It’s one thing creating videos to explain cancer and debunk myths for my online audience, but it’s another to turn that into a book.
“Katya saw that there’s a real need to help people living with cancer understand what is happening to them and why. I get so many comments from women and men who don’t know what to do when they hear or read something, and this book gives me the opportunity to empower them to make evidence-based choices. I am so proud of this book. As a doctor, all I wanted to do was to help people. This book has given me another way to do just that.”
Shipster said: ‘There is no one I trust more than Dr Liz to sort the facts from the fiction—when I was going through my own cancer treatment, I turned to her immensely wise and useful videos to help guide my decisions. There is so much misinformation out there and I knew Dr Liz was the only woman for the job of collating her research into a thoroughly clear, usable book.”
Shipster added: "In addition to her brilliant research, she also knows exactly how a patient feels at every step, having been there herself three times, so she knows what questions need answers. I know this important book is going to help so many cancer patients navigate their way more confidently through their treatment. I am immensely proud to publish her, and this book.”
