Louise Allen-Jones Associates to close

Louise Allen-Jones will close her eponymous literary scouting agency, Louise Allen-Jones Associates, today (Tuesday, 28th February).

In a statement shared with The Bookseller, Allen-Jones said she is prioritising upcoming surgeries after breaking her ankle last May, adding that she hopes to “keep her hand in” the industry.

Allen-Jones commented: “It’s been incredibly hard to say goodbye to my brilliant colleagues, and to my exceptional clients, some of whom I’ve worked with for over 20 years. It’s been a great privilege to have had these close relationships with such pillars of the overseas publishing community, and I will miss each and every one of them exponentially. I’m glad to say that most have now signed with existing UK scouting agencies.

"And then, of course, there’s all the people I’ve worked with in the UK for the past 32 years, whose dedicated ethos, enthusiasm, professionalism and, not least, friendship has made this rather extraordinary job such a joy.”
