Coronet has acquired "Love Island" star Chris Hughes’ autobiography, entitled You Bantering Me?, to publish this spring.
Since appearing on 2017's series of the ITV2 hit show, Hughes went on to have a spin-off show, "Chris and Kem: Straight Outta Love Island", and release a fitness DVD and single. He and girlfriend Olivia Jade Attwood are now embarking on their own six-part reality television series, "Crackin’ On".
In his autobiography, Hughes, 24, will share how he swapped life on a farm for a TV career and red-carpet fame. He will also talk about his "rollercoaster relationship" with his model girlfriend, Attwood, who he met on "Love Island", about his friendship with co-star Kem Cetinay, and share his experience of having "crippling anxiety".
Coronet publisher Charlotte Hardman bought UK and Commonwealth rights from David Riding of MBA Literary Agency, acting on behalf of Jim Erwood and Chris Drake at Off Limits Management. Coronet will publish the hardback with simultaneous e-book and audio edition on 3rd May 2018.
Hardman said fans could expect the book to be "candid and open and incredibly entertaining".
"Viewers fell in love with Chris not only for his unique take on the world and sense of humour but also for his emotional vulnerability," she said. "His very many fans will be delighted with his book – he is candid and open and incredibly entertaining. Chris has very quickly become a much-loved star and it is easy to see why; Chris is an absolute pleasure to work with and the team and I are looking forward to all the excitement that publication of You Bantering Me? will bring."
Hughes commented: "As anyone who watched 'Love Island' will know I’m never short of something to say! I’m very excited about getting to share my story with everyone. It’s been crazy how much has happened to me in the last year and how much my life has changed. In this book I’ll tell you about the full journey my life has been so far including all the tears, laughter, arguments and banter."
Other books born out of the popularity of "Love Island" include Love Island – On Paper: The Official Love Island Guide to Grafting, Cracking on and Mugging off won by Octopus at auction and published in November of last year. Prior to its publication, Blink Publishing teamed with Marcel Somerville to publish Dr Marcel’s Little Book of Big Love.
