Indie publisher Lume Books will publish the latest psychological thriller from Jane Holland, Someone to Care.
Commissioning editor Alice Rees acquired world English language rights, including digital and audio from Alison Bonomi at Luigi Bonomi Associates Ltd. Publication in e-book and paperabck is scheduled for April 2021.
The novel follows Kate Kinley, a 33-year-old with a lot going on in her life. She is a rising star in the publishing world, but her work is stressful and her boss is unbearable. Her father and brother died tragically five years ago and her boyfriend recently took his own life, all while her mother is suffering with early-onset dementia.
When Kate hires a nurse for her mother and meets a new guy, things seem to be looking up—until someone hacks Kate's private Twitter account and her work life starts to unravel. The person Kate turns to for help could lead her and her vulnerable mother straight into the arms of death.
Rees said: "I couldn’t be more delighted to have acquired the latest from expert psychological thriller writer Jane Holland. When I approached Jane with a very loose concept, she took the idea and ran with it, and has come up with something I think will be an entirely new twist for fans of the genre."
Bonomi commented: "I’m so excited that Lume Books will be publishing Jane’s exciting new thriller—it’s a rollercoaster read and I’m sure it’s going to be hugely successful and appeal to her many fans."
Holland has previously published Girl Number One (Thomas & Mercer, 2016) and Forget Her Name (Thomas & Mercer, 2018).
