Lume Books has landed a two-book deal, for two "pacy" thrillers, from Sophia Spiers.
Head of publishing Aubrie Artiano acquired world English language rights from Rachel Yeoh at The Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency. The first book in the deal, Buried, will be published in autumn 2024 with Influenced to follow in 2025.
"I am delighted that Lume will continue to champion Sophia’s next two pacy thrillers," said Yeoh. "Sophia has come a long way since the Madeleine Milburn Mentorship programme, and it has been a joy to see her commercial brand grow."
Buried follows recent divorcee Eve Stevens who inherits her family home in Crouch End and moves in to fix it up. The publisher continued: "In fixing the house, she’ll fix her life, too – regain custody of her daughter and bury her childhood demons for good. But it’s not long before strange things start to happen, and Eve is reminded why she’s spent years running from this house."
In Inherited we follow a young woman who starts working at a "yogalates" studio run by a famous influencer "only to fall into a dangerous cat-and-mouse game of obsession".
Artiano said: "Sophia’s profound understanding of human emotions captivates readers, and her plots bewitch and enthral those who embark on her literary journey. We’re delighted to be working with her again.”
Spiers commented: “I am thrilled to be working with Aubrie and the amazing team at Lume Books again. I’m beyond excited that my two dark and twisty thrillers, Buried and Influenced, will be out in e-book and paperback soon.”
