LUP partners with Voltaire Foundation

Liverpool University Press has agreed a partnership with the University of Oxford's Voltaire Foundation for publication of VF's long-running series Oxford University Studies in the Enlightenment, which dates back to 1955.

From August next year, LUP will take on responsibility for publishing 11 new titles in the series each year, in print and digital format, and will make over 500 backlist titles available via the Oxford University Studies in the Enlightenment e-library.

LUP m.d. Anthony Cond said he hoped "to build upon and amplify the work of the Voltaire Foundation, which is unquestionably the world leader for 18th-century scholarship". He said: "The availability of the Oxford University Studies in the Enlightenment series in digital format will provide an essential resource for scholars in a number of fields, meanwhile the series will continue to thrive in print and will retain the high standard for which it is widely known."

Professor Nicholas Cronk, director of the Voltaire Foundation, said the partnership would ensure "a successful and sustainable future" for the series.

The Voltaire Foundation is a research department of the university of Oxford, publishing in both English and French. As well as the Studies in the Enlightenment series, the Foundation also publishes the Complete Works of Voltaire, a British Academy research project.
