Macmillan Fiction has signed up world rights to two more books from L T Shearer, author of The Cat Who Caught a Killer.
Alex Saunders, editorial director bought rights directly from the author for two more books in the Conrad the Cat cosy crime fiction series. The first, The Cat Who Cracked a Cold Case, will publish in hardback in October 2024, with a Christmas spin on the series due in late 2025. They will continue the story of The Cat Who Caught a Killer and The Cat Who Solved Three Murders.
The novels are billed as “charming cosy crime reads which see retired police detective Lulu Lewis team up with a very special street cat named Conrad as they solve crimes while travelling around the UK on her canal boat ’The Lark’”.
Saunders said: “Working on this series has been a joy and it gives me great pleasure that we have signed up another two books to continue Lulu and Conrad’s story. The genius of the canal boat means this charming, humorous and heart-warming series of tales will have our unlikely crime-solving duo visiting many more destinations around the UK’s canal ways and offers just the kind of escapism and light relief that readers are looking for right now.”
Shearer added: “I’m delighted to have been given the opportunity to continue bringing Conrad the Cat to a wider audience – there are so many Conrad and Lulu adventures still to be written and it’s marvellous to have them with a publisher as wonderful as Pan Macmillan."
