Mardle Books has scooped The Real Ted Hastings: The True Story of the Copper at the Heart of Line of Duty by Robin Jarossi.
Commissioning editor Jo Sollis acquired world all language rights directly from the author. The book will be published on 11th May 2023.
Jarossi is a freelance journalist and contributor to true-crime documentaries on BBC and CBS Reality. He is also the author of Murder by the Sea and The Hunt for the 60s Ripper, published by Mardle Books and Mirror Books respectively.
Jarossi commented: "’Line of Duty’ is thrilling entertainment viewed by an international audience of millions, but few realise the extent to which the gripping plots are fuelled by real corruption scandals. At a time when the Metropolitan Police is under the cosh itself for a range of dispiriting failures, The Real Ted Hastings reveals the shocking cases – from Daniel Morgan and Stephen Lawrence to Jimmy Savile and Daphne Caruana Galizia – that add power to the BBC’s hit drama series. The plots may be fictional, but the corruption is all real and depicts a Britain in which the powers of law and order are fraying and often failing the public."
