Mardle Books has secured Murder by the Sea Vol 1, a companion book to the true-crime documentary series on CBS Reality.
Publisher Jo Sollis acquired world all language rights from Monster Films. Murder by the Sea will be published on 22nd July 2022 in paperback, e-book and audio.
The programme has examined some of the most extraordinary murder cases in Britain’s seaside towns and 10 of the series’ “most powerful and shocking cases” will feature in the book. Alongside exclusive additional material not included in the original episodes, the companion book will contain interviews with detectives, forensic psychologists, witnesses and relatives.
The publisher wrote: “From serial killers to a 1950s poisoner, from cruel husbands to a rare murder by a mother and son, these are the true stories of wives, couples and families who had the misfortune to encounter a killer in their everyday lives.”
Rik Hall, producer and founder of Monster Films which produces the series for CBS Reality, said: “Ever since the first series we have been repeatedly asked is there a book to go with it. Having considered several publishers, we felt Mardle and the huge encouragement for the project offered by Jo Sollis made them the perfect fit. Now readers will be able to experience in full, the astonishing first-hand accounts of these crimes – something that TV audiences couldn’t, due to restrictions made by the length of a broadcast slot.”
Sollis added: “As a huge fan of the programme, I am thrilled to bring these extraordinary crime stories out in an even more comprehensive format. The level of detail, investigation work and professional commentary are of such high standard that a companion book is a must-have for all true crime fans.”
