Amazon Publishing’s Thomas & Mercer imprint has acquired three more psychological thrillers by Mark Edwards.
World rights in the three books were acquired from agent Sam Copeland of Rogers, Coleridge and White.
The first, Here Before, is about a woman who becomes increasingly convinced her daughter is the reincarnation of her murdered sister. It will be published in 2019.
Edwards’ most recent novel, The Lucky Ones, reached the top three in the Amazon Kindle rankings on the day of its release. Edwards’ total career sales have exceeded 2.25m copies, according to Amazon, and he has topped the Kindle charts five times.
Edwards said: "Thomas & Mercer and the whole Amazon Publishing team have been incredibly supportive over the past few years. They encourage me to write the kind of books I want to write and really look after their authors. I’m thrilled to have signed with them again."
Edwards was published by HarperCollins for a time for his novels co-written with Louise Voss. After initially achieving success through self-publishing on Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing platform with Catch Your Death, HarperCollins bought four titles by the pair in 2011 in a six-figure pre-empt. However, only two of the four titles reached Nielsen BookScan’s top 5,000 and the authors signed subsequently in 2014 with Thomas & Mercer.
Edwards' next solo-authored novel, The Retreat, in which a horror novelist investigates the disappearance of a young girl, will be published with Thomas & Mercer in Spring 2018.
