Canongate will publish a sequel to Matt Haig’s The Truth Pixie, entitled The Truth Pixie Goes to School, this August.
The new book, which will again be illustrated by Chris Mould, is about beating back-to-school nerves and helping children to learn to be themselves in their school uniform. It will publish in hardback in time for the back-to-school season.
Haig said: “The Truth Pixie is always my favourite character to write, and she offers a fun way to explore issues that children face in their everyday lives. This book isn’t just about school, it’s about friendship and the pressure to fit in and be popular. There will definitely be more Truth Pixie books to come. I’m not ready to say goodbye.”
Publishing director Francis Bickmore acquired world rights, including audio, in a two-book deal with an untitled adult non-fiction work, from Clare Conville at C&W.
“Matt Haig has a gift for speaking simply and honestly about emotions, even difficult ones, and if we want to equip our children to deal with the challenges of 21st century childhoods we need to give them the emotional vocabulary to express themselves and, like the Truth Pixie, to be unafraid to tell the truth,” said Bickmore. “We couldn’t be happier that Matt Haig and Chris Mould are reuniting for more adventures.”
The Truth Pixie sold 45,824 copies for £294,205 in hardback through Nielsen BookScan.
