Allen Lane has acquired the "hallucinatory" account of Pussy Riot's Maria Alekhina's time in the Russian "justice" system.
Alekhina, a long-term human rights campaigner and member of the feminist, anti-Putin collective, Pussy Riot, was arrested after the group's Punk Prayer in Moscow's Christ the Saviour Cathedral.
Helen Conford, publishing director at Allen Lane, said: "A work of literature, Maria's wry, almost tender tone simply underlines even more strongly the importance of fighting for your rights, every day."
Conford acquired UK & Commonwealth rights in an exclusive submission from Claire Conrad and Janklow & Nesbit. Foreign rights enquiries to Rebecca Folland. US rights being handled by Melissa Flashman at Janklow US.
Allen Lane will publish in July this year.
