HarperCollins has secured The Game, a memoir from television pundit and ex-footballer Micah Richards.
Executive publisher Oliver Malcolm acquired world rights from Josh Landy at Bear Faced Talent. The memoir will be published on 27th October 2022.
Richards played for Manchester City, Fiorentina and Aston Villa and became the youngest defender to ever play for England at the age of 18. During his career, Richards experienced first-hand the Manchester City revolution, sharing the pitch and achieving success with the likes of Mario Balotelli, Vincent Kompany and Sergio Aguero. Since retiring from the game Richards often appears as a pundit on Sky Sports, BBC Sport and "Match of the Day".
The Game will delve into the events that brought him to where he is now and share his reflections on his career and success. The publisher wrote: “The Game promises to be one of the most entertaining sports books of the year.”
Richards said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be working with HarperCollins on my new book. As both a player and pundit I’ve been fortunate enough to gain an incredible insight into the beautiful game and can’t wait to share that with readers this autumn.”
Malcolm commented: “Micah Richards is a hugely effervescent character with a ‘glass half full’ approach to football, punditry, and life in general. We are probably all guilty of taking ourselves a little too seriously at times, so Micah’s down to earth personality combined with a genuine sparkle is incredibly motivating for all the team working on the book here at HarperCollins.”
