Michael Joseph has partnered with HBO to publish Game of Thrones: A Guide to Westeros and Beyond, The Complete Series in November, offering "a visually dynamic exploration of complex plots and narrative arcs".
The book will be published on 19th November 2019 in hardback by Michael Joseph with HBO Licensing & Retail, a division of Home Box Office Inc which partners with licensees around the world. It will be published by Chronicle Books in the US.
Organised in two parts and covering all eight seasons of highest rated HBO series of all time, the book follows the story of the South, "where kings and queens battle to rule the land from the Iron Throne, and of the North, where the White Walkers and their army of the dead gather," Michael Joseph said. "Complementing the numerous illustrations and enlightening infographics, it explores the triumphs and tragedies of the entire series through insightful essays revealing how beloved characters and unforgettable plot twists fit into the central themes of the show’s epic journey."
A Guide to Westeros and Beyond, The Complete Series will also include hand-illustrated depictions of pivotal battles from a bird’s eye view, "deep explorations" of key locations in Westeros, essays on key relationships and how they develop over time, timeline of Westerosi history and family trees, providing "a visually dynamic exploration of complex plots and narrative arcs".
It is billed as "a handsome, must-have companion for every fan" of the series, which was inspired by George R R Martin's series of books. The TV series finished in May.
The project follows other "Game of Thrones" book-related projects includes The Folio Society's publication of the first Game of Thrones novel, retailing at £125.
Meanwhile Martin revealed in May he is still writing the penultimate Game of Thrones book, The Winds of Winter, but is hoping to finish by August 2020. It will be published by HarperCollins in the UK.
