Michael O’Mara Books is to publish a fitness guide by "the film industry’s most in-demand personal trainer" Simon Waterson, with a foreword by Daniel Craig, one of his clients.
Intelligent Fitness: The Smart Way to Reboot Your Body and Get in Shape will reveal Waterson’s "unique approach to reimagining your body and transforming your fitness by focusing on training, recovery and nutrition". It is aimed at readers of any age and fitness level and will include exercises and routines to reach achievable goals.
Waterson said: “I’m so excited to finally be sharing my tried-and-tested programmes for fitness and wellbeing that have helped me transform so many actors into athletes. But this is by no means an intimidating fitness manual aimed at the super advanced. The purpose of this book is to create a highly accessible and practical fitness guide for everyone. Physical and mental wellbeing shouldn’t just be for film stars; all the techniques I use are so relevant to anyone looking to achieve sustainable health and fitness in their own life."
As well as training Craig for five James Bond films, Waterson has also worked with "Captain America" actor Chris Evans, trained Chris Pratt for "Guardians of the Galaxy", and prepared Thandie Newton and John Boyega for the recent Star Wars films.
Intelligent Fitness will include a 16-page colour plate section including behind-the-scenes photos of training sessions in the 007 gym from Waterson and official Bond photographer Greg Williams.
Craig commented: "Without Simon’s help and guidance, I wouldn’t have made it through 15 years of playing James Bond."
Jo Stansall, commissioning editor, acquired world English language rights from Nick Walters at David Luxton Associates.
Stansall commented: "Simon’s client list reads like a who’s who of leading film actors, and it’s absolutely no surprise that he has established himself as the go-to trainer in the industry. His detailed understanding of exactly what it takes to reach peak fitness is incredible, and his strong philosophy of performance over aesthetic, together with his focus on the relationship between mental and physical wellbeing, makes this book very special."
