Michael O’Mara has landed Webb’s Universe: The Space Telescope Images That Reveal Our Cosmic History by the "pioneering" Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock.
Senior commissioning editor Jo Stansall acquired world rights from Vicki McIvor at Take 3 Management. The book will be published in hardback on 31st October 2024.
In Webb’s Universe Aderin-Pocock explains the images from the James Webb Space Telescope to appeal "to a wide range of space enthusiasts". Her text will be accompanied by full-colour photographs from the telescope.
Aderin-Pocock has previously written two books for Michael O’Mara’s children’s imprint Buster Books with Am I Made of Stardust? shortlisted for the British Book Award 2023 in children’s non-fiction.
She commented: "The images that have come back from the James Webb Space Telescope have been astonishing to space scientists and laymen alike, showing us the universe as it’s never been seen before. I’m excited about what has already come back and what we might further learn."
Stansall added: "Maggie has an uncanny ability to talk about complex science in an engaging and clear way and, with her incredible expertise and enthusiasm, I can’t think of anyone better placed to guide us through the new discoveries being made via this amazing piece of space technology."
