Millennial take on female friendship to Ebury Press

Ebury Press editor Katie Seaman has bought world rights from Sarah Hornsley at The Bent Agency in Almost Adults, a “laugh-out-loud debut novel celebrating female friendship” by freelance journalist Ali Pantony. 

The novel follows four friends as they navigate “the struggles of adulthood”.  Seaman said: “We’re seeing the emergence of a different kind of heroine in women’s fiction – a more realistic twenty-something protagonist that millennials can better relate to. With the struggle of ‘adulting’ being all too real, we need our friends more than ever to help us through it so I’m delighted to be publishing Almost Adults – a book which fans of Dolly Alderton and Holly Bourne will love.’

Pantony, who has written for Glamour and Cosmopolitan, said: “Traditionally, a group of friends – particularly female ones – seem to get relegated to cameos in fiction; meeting for lunch or going shopping. But there’s so much more to female friendship than that. The women I am lucky enough to call my best friends are the people who shaped my childhood, are there every step of the way through my twenties, and ultimately have made me who I am. So I wanted to really dive into the funny, messy, fiery, complex, powerful thing that is female friendship – because it deserves to be celebrated, warts and all’.

Ebury Press will publish Almost Adults as an e-book on 24th June 2019 and in paperback on 8th August 2019.
