Hodder is publishing a new book by Miranda Hart - about her dog, Peggy.
Peggy and Me is Hart's second book after publishing Is It Just Me? with Hodder & Stoughton in 2012, a Sunday Times' non-fiction number one over Christmas 2012.
It promises to be a "hilarious and at times moving" account of the BBC sitcom star's life with her canine best friend - documenting her initial suspicion of dog owners ("alarmed by their light coating of dog hair") and her change of heart after "love quickly blossomed" between Hart and her "wonder dog" nine years ago.
Hannah Black, non-fiction publishing director for Hodder, acquired world rights from Gordon Wise at Curtis Brown.
Hart said: “I am so thrilled to be given the chance to write a second book, and I look forward to introducing Peggy to the world and telling you about the many comic adventures we have found ourselves on as well as sharing the life lessons I have learnt from her. Reflective, life affirming stuff – I’m not talking about how to wash my bum with my tongue or take a pie packet out of a bin and lick it.”
Black said: “It's a joy to be working with Miranda again. After the huge success of her brilliant first book, Is It Just Me? she's gone on to write a wonderful, revealing new book that will make people laugh and also have a bit of a cry. If only we could all have a Peggy in our lives.”
Peggy and Me will be published in hardback, priced £20, on 6th October 2016.
